Bound to the keywords

CodeWord blog - laptop - writing business

We used to be able to just write a blog post, but now we have to identify relevant keywords first and then write the blog post.

There’s a reason why writers have a love/hate relationship with SEO. It’s the never-ending pull between the creative impulse just to put your thoughts onto the page and the equally real desire to have your writing read – or else, why bother.

These days thankfully, readers are becoming even more savvy. They’re rejecting writing that sounds too keyword driven. We’re moving forward to where a strong voice, solid content and research are seen as the highlights. And if we’re able to work the keywords responsibly, then all the better.

Keywords are not all bad. They help us figure out more focused topics, just as AI is helping us to think beyond our natural brainstorm. Keywords help identify gaps that make a blog post truly helpful content. They sometimes help us think beyond the topic we originally conceived and even beyond the narrow word set we were using. If we use keywords in a way that makes us keyword driven, not keyword dependent, and that makes most writing a bit more palatable.
