One useful tip

CodeWord blog - blog posts on writing business

I was browsing Content Marketing Institute recently (one of my go-to sources for newsletter content) when I came across a suggestion that stopped my scroll. Not because it was revolutionary, but because it was immediately useful.

One great tip

The tip: Add “dated” tags to your blog posts

The idea is simple. Along with your usual content tags—business tips, content marketing, editing—add a “dated” tag to posts about time-sensitive topics. Simple, but brilliant.

The tip was not only helpful because I could immediately apply it to my own blog (even though I did). It also got me thinking about other action-oriented tags that go beyond just describing content.

What if we tagged posts not just for what they’re about, but for what we want to do with them?

“Regular posts” for ideas to revisit periodically. “Repurpose” for content that could become a video, newsletter piece, or presentation. “Update annually” for evergreen content that needs refreshing.

Looking for tips

Sometimes the most valuable articles aren’t the comprehensive guides or deep dives. Sometimes it’s the piece with one immediately actionable tip that you can implement today.

I’ve started a running list of these “one good tip” discoveries. They add up to real improvements over time.

What’s the best single tip you’ve picked up recently from your reading?
